We Would Like to Start a Trust Fund.

Victims of the unfair BAC OWI laws should fight back!! Don't just pay your fine. Demand a jury trial. It's your right. It's inexpensive for you but very costly for the authorities. It can help to promote a change in the drunk driving laws as the profit to the local government disappears.

For some folks spending the extra money for a jury trial and missing a day of work can be too much extra expense added to the the already high fine. It would be great to start a trust fund to reimburse first-time offenders (victims of BAC laws) for the added cost of a jury trial and for the wages lost for one day of work.

This would encourage more people to fight the charges in court since it would cost nothing more to defend one's self in court. You could save the whole fine if you win. With a jury, you have a better chance of winning.

I would like to set up such a trust fund but I am not sure of the legal issues and tax issues involved. If you have expertise in this area or know someone who does, please contact me via email.
